A difficult task

Yesterday afternoon I had to do one of the most difficult things in my life. I told my Aunt Anne, age 89, about my cancer.

She's a cancer survivor in her own right, but this was difficult because she's been so affected by my mother's hospitalization that I wasn't sure how she'd take it.

I told her not to cry just yet -- which didn't work -- but to remember that I'm still alive and kicking and not going out without a fight.

So now I think everyone in the family knows -- except Mom, who remains in the ICU at Kindred Hospital Fort Lauderdale.

Sunday I'll visit Mom and it'll probably be the last time for a few weeks.

You are right, the whole family probably knows by now. Aunt Anne is a super-yenta and the word is out. Just know that the whole family is behind you and praying for you.

I've spoken to Aunt Anne since, and she's doing better. Thanks Aunt Anne. Love you too. And thanks Michael!

Hey Keith -- went to your blog site. I wasn't sure why you were on disability. Now I know. I hope everything goes your way. It will work out in the end. My mother and sister both had Hodgkins and lymphoma and went through that. They are both doing fine. Good luck!

Thanks Paul,

I appreciate that. The more I hear about survivors the better I feel. I am sure it will work out.
